Local MP Gen Kitchen Visits Creating Tomorrow College in Wellingborough

Gen Kitchen MP with Wellingborough campus team outside the campus building

We were delighted to welcome local MP Gen Kitchen to our Wellingborough campus at Chester House Estate on Friday, 17th October.

The visit was a fantastic opportunity to share how we support our learners into meaningful employment – and to celebrate the strong partnerships we’ve built with local employers and our wider community.

A Warm Welcome from Our Learners

Our learners were ready to welcome Gen from the moment she arrived. They proudly led her on a guided tour of Chester House Estate, showcasing the wide range of real-world work experience opportunities available on site.

From hospitality to grounds maintenance, learners spoke with enthusiasm about how their placements help them grow in confidence, develop independence, and gain valuable skills for the future.

Gen was keen to get involved too – even stepping behind the bar to help learners pour a pint at the Hay Barn Café and Bar! She then met with the Chester House team to hear first-hand about their experiences of supporting our learners and the positive impact they bring to the workplace.

Celebrating Success Stories

During the visit, Gen met Max, one of our former learners who has now moved into paid employment with GXO, and Zac, who has joined the Chester House team as a valued staff member.

Their stories perfectly highlight what our five-day-a-week, employment-focused programmes are all about – giving young people the confidence, skills, and support to succeed in work and beyond.

Learners Leading the Conversation

Our learners also had the chance to turn the tables and ask Gen questions about the issues that matter most to them. She listened with genuine interest, sharing how she continues to champion opportunities for young people with SEND to enter and thrive in the workplace.

It was an inspiring and uplifting day for everyone involved. Seeing our learners speak so confidently about their journeys and ambitions was a real highlight.
