In some cases, yes. Depending on individual circumstances, an existing volunteering role or part-time job may be recognised as part of your work experience, allowing learners to maintain their current commitments.
The typical college day is 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. As learners progress onto a Supported Internship, working hours may vary depending on the role and employer. If shift work is required, college staff will fully support learners through this transition.
Learners are treated as young adults. They have more independence and are encouraged to manage their own time, make choices and take responsibility for their learning. Our approach is practical, hands-on, with a strong focus on real-world experience and preparation for employment. All learning is personalised around each learner's strengths, interests and future goals.
Yes. We do have clear expectations to help everyone feel safe, respected and supported. These are outlined in our Learner Code of Conduct
No. Supported Internships are an education programme, so learners do not receive a salary while they are completing their internship. The focus of this year is to build skills, confidence and independence in a real workplace.
Many of our learners move into paid employment once they have demonstrated their ability and are ready for the role. This is when they begin to receive a salary as an employee.
The organisation hosting the placement is responsible for providing any PPE required for the role. This ensures learners have the correct equipment and meet workplace health and safety standards.
